Editor:
Valentine's Day was celebrated throughout the month of February at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. The community showed their continued support with both canned goods and monetary donations. Typically, this time of year our donations slow down. We are in need of paper towels, canned stew and boxed breakfast cereal. We could also use toothpaste and tooth brushes. If any of our local dentists could help us out with those items, it would be greatly appreciated.
The following donations were received for February (in pounds): Mike Smith (183), Douglas County School District Nutrition Office (216), Vanity Bakery (37), Christ Presbyterian Church (36), Douglas County Public Library (40), St. Gall Catholic Church (301), Rite Aid Drug Store (103), Tahoe Community Church (271), Unity Church of Today (60), Coventry Cross Episcopal Church (23) and Carson Valley Methodist Church (142). Regular grocery contributors: Raley's, Smith's, Scolari's, Starbucks, Costco, Pony Espresso, Trader Joe's, Shell Country Store, Russell's Mercantile, Vanity Bakery and one Secret Santa.
Cash donations received: Anderson Family Ranch in memory of Don Brooks, Charles Gebhart, Coventry Cross Episcopal Church, Paul and Veleane Arbour, B. Fettic, J. Williams, Merrill Construction, Burl and Rosemarie Middendorf and Wells Fargo Community Support.
The Carson Valley Comminity Food Closet is located at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville and is open to receive donations on Monday through Wednesday and Friday From 1-4 p.m. For more information, contact Eileen Boettiger, director at 782-3711.
