Carson Valley's Dr. Joseph Boateng plans to open several affordable, quality hospitals throughout Ghana to improve the quality of life through affordable and accessible healthcare.

Boateng works at Carson Valley Medical Center, which is donating several pieces of hospital equipment, including a high-tech nuclear medicine scanner from Philips Medical Systems.

After acquiring the new nuclear medicine equipment last year, the center had its older, yet still fully-functional, nuclear medicine imaging system in storage, according to a spokesperson for the center.

Once this equipment arrives at the hospital in Ghana (which is still under construction), physicians in Ghana will have the ability to properly diagnose and treat many diseases and conditions that would otherwise go undiagnosed.

Boateng is also in the process of opening several libraries and developing a literacy program in Ghana.
