Search on for missing pug

At 22 pounds, Reagan the pug makes up in friendliness what he lacks in size.

That may be what has led to his disappearance.

Reagan belongs to Brooke Rose and her husband Joe, who stopped in Gardnerville last week to visit her parents Michael and Barbara Gibbons before Staff Sgt. Joe Rose is to report to Fort Carson, Colo.

Brooke Rose said she let Reagan and her basset Abe out on the Gibbons' property in the Pine Nuts twice on Friday.

The first time the dogs came right back; the second time, they never returned.

Rose said she reported the missing dogs to Douglas County Animal Control and spent 10 hours searching before posting flyers throughout the area.

On Saturday, Abe turned up on a front porch in the Gardnerville Ranchos without Reagan.

Abe also was missing his identification, but was traced through a rabies tag.

Rose believes the dogs may have been picked up and whoever took them let Abe go.

It wouldn't be the first time for Reagan.

While the Roses were stationed in North Carolina, Reagan was stolen twice from their yard and returned when a reward was offered.

Reagan has not been neutered, Rose said. He is black and was wearing a brown leather collar with a rabies tag.

Rose said she hopes whoever has Reagan returns him before they are to return to Colorado in a couple of weeks to close on their new home.

"I don't want to leave without him," she said.

And Abe misses his friend.

"He's depressed," she said of the basset.
