Man accused in sexual assault to appear in court today

A man arrested on a warrant in Carson City is expected to appear in East Fork Justice Court this morning in connection with the sexual and physical abuse of an 11-year-old girl.

David C. Springer, 26, a former Gardnerville resident, allegedly sexually abused the girl a dozen times, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Douglas County District Attorney's Office.

Springer was arrested on a warrant issued by East Fork Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl on March 10.

He is being held in Douglas County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail

n A Carson City man is expected to appear in East Fork Justice Court today on a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance.

Jose Juarez, 24, was arrested March 19 after deputies received a tip there was a drug deal in a parking lot. Juarez walked up to deputies while they were talking to the two men identified in connection with the tip. On his person, they allegedly found a bag containing 9 grams of what they believe to be cocaine.

Juarez appeared in East Fork Justice Court on March 19 where attorney Derrick Lopez was appointed to represent him.

Juarez is being held in Douglas County jail for immigration officials.
