Seven Douglas High School students were recognized for outstanding artwork in the Scholastic Art Awards at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno.
"Our art students made a really strong showing this year," said Douglas High School art teacher Nancy Bargman. "We had winning entries in four categories and won two of the five prestigious American Visions awards. Our entries were in the video production, photography, printmaking and drawing categories which exemplifies the variety of art instruction offered at Douglas."
Fil Corbett, Sarah Morlan, Natasha Brown and Brittany Bitetto were presented silver key awards, while gold key awards were presented to Elle Zusi-Russell and Geoff Rahe. Rahe and Saph Brooks were honored with the American Visions award and their work was sent to New York for national judging.
