After six days on the lam, Reagan, a black pug, is back home.

Owner Brooke Rose said she walked into her parents' house after taking Reagan's companion basset hound Abe to the vet for a microchip, and Reagan greeted her.

"I walked in, and there he was. I couldn't believe it," Rose said.

The daughter of Michael and Barbara Gibbons, Rose and her husband are visiting for a few days before they go to Fort Carson, Colo., where Joe Rose is an Army staff sergeant.

On March 21, she let the dogs out, and they disappeared.

Abe was found in the Gardnerville Ranchos the next day, but Reagan failed to turn up.

Rose posted flyers, contacted the Douglas County Animal Shelter, and told her story in The Record-Courier.

"I was losing hope," Rose said. "I thought I was going to just have to stay in Gardnerville until we found Reagan."

She said a man called her father and said he found Reagan near City of Refuge, a couple of miles from the Gibbons' home.

"He's in perfect health," Rose said. "There doesn't seem to be anything wrong."

Rose is getting a microchip for Reagan, too.

This is the third time he disappeared. She said he was taken from her yard twice while she and her husband lived in North Carolina.

"I'm only letting him out on his leash," she said. "And no more running around with Abe unsupervised. Reagan would have never left on his own."

Rose said she wanted to thank everyone who put up flyers and prayed for Reagan's safe return.

"They're like my kids," she said.
