A celebration of Skydive Tahoe co-owner Wes Harberts' life is noon Saturday at his hangar, 102 Wass Road at Minden-Tahoe Airport. Mr. Harberts died March 23, 2008, when his parachute malfunctioned.
Born Oct. 28, 1974, to Steve and Pat Harberts, he was remembered as an inspiration to other skydivers. He held many professional ratings and licenses and was a videographer for national skydiving teams, tandem master, AFF instructor, professional canopy pilot, and a member of the Red Bull Team.
He and Aja Niemann opened Skydive Tahoe at the Minden-Tahoe Airport in June 2007, a project that took four years to complete.
Mr. Harberts was an avid outdoorsman, who fished, hunted, skiied, snowboarded and engaged in several other outdoors activities.
He is survived by his parents; a sister; a niece; family and friends and his partner.
