On the first day of filing, races developed for all of the Douglas County Board of Commissioner seats up for election.
The only incumbent to file in the race, District 3 Commissioner Doug Johnson faces a challenge from 24-year-old University of Nevada, Reno, graduate student Blaine Spires.
Gardnerville Ranchos builder Greg Lynn and activist Dave Nelson filed for the District 1 seat occupied by Commissioner Jim Baushke.
North county residents Michael Olson and Stuart Posselt both filed for the District 5 commission seat presently occupied by Chairman Kelly Kite. Kite is prevented from running again by term limits, Baushke has indicated he would not seek re-election.
All six candidates are Republicans.
A race also formed up for two seats on the Gardnerville Town Board when Michael J. Smith filed against Randy Slater and Paul Lindsay.
Slater is seeking his fourth term on the board. Slater said this is his last term on the board before he's term-limited out.
