About 500 people turned out for the Sheriff's Office open house on Wednesday to check out the exhibits and have a hot dog. As always, the tour of the jail was a very popular feature. The Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team was scaling the wall of the Judicial and Law Enforcement Building, and folks were out looking at all the cool stuff on what turned out to be a very nice evening.
The rescue team almost didn't get to participate because of an emergency locator transmitter that went off in Carson City. The transmitters are installed in aircraft to indicate a crash and one went off at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
If it weren't for the wind, it might be nice today. The forecast is for mostly sunny skies with a high around 72. But the wind will pick up at 11 a.m. and keep blowing into the afternoon, with gusts of up to 25 mph. It will cool off on Friday a bit.
