Gardnerville resident Gene Zierdt is celebrating his 90th birthday on Thursday and inviting friends to give him a call.
He has lived in Gardnerville for 22 years, having moved here in 1987.
Zierdt was named Elks Citizen of the Year in 1999. He was a charter member and former president of the Friends of the Library, which was founded in 1993.
He has served as a docent at Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa, was a member of High Sierra Flycasters. He is an active member of Carson Valley United Methodist Church.
