Burros fresh from the range will be on display May 23 and 24 in Bishop when the Bureau of Land Management offers wild burros for adoption.
The BLM will offer 10 burros at an adoption at the Bishop Veterinary Hospital, 1650 N. Sierra Highway. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 23 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 24. There will be a silent auction to start the event on May 23 at 9 a.m. Remaining animals will be available for a $125 adoption fee. All animals must be taken from the facility by shortly after 5 p.m. on May 24.
"Spring is here and the timing is right to begin training an adopted burro," said Art DiGrazia, facility manager at BLM's Ridgecrest corrals.
