The Douglas County Historical Society's Historic Emigrant Trail Barn Tour is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24.
Barns included in the tour are some of the first built in Nevada that have remained in use for a hundred years or more. The historical society's goal is to show the importance of preserving these and other historic structures.
Ticket price of $25 per person includes the tour, barbecue lunch provided by the Douglas County Farm Bureau, living history performances and free admission to the Genoa Court House Museum and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
Paul Oatman will give a presentation on timber framed barns during lunch. Barn owners and others knowledgeable about the properties will be available for questions.
Tickets are available at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville, the Genoa Court House Museum and the Tahoe Ridge Winery in Genoa or by credit card by calling 782-2555.
