The public is invited to Scarselli Elementary School's annual Art Show on Thursday, May 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Student creations displayed throughout the school include murals, metalwork, 3-D clay formations and mosaics. The popular black light room returns again this year and will feature dinosaurs, outer space galaxies, twisted tree roots and ancient temples.
Art teacher Mary Stoll emphasizes literacy-based art projects. Much of the artwork produced by students is inspired by children's literature that has been read aloud in class.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an art tour scavenger hunt as a fun way to view the different collections. Those who complete the hunt will be eligible to win a huge tub of art supplies that includes everything from clay to paints and pastels. A total of three prizes will be awarded and winners need not be present to claim their prize.
Families can come together in the gym to try several hands-on art activities. Sixth-grade art assistants will be available to answer questions and provide guidance and help.
In addition, the Parent/Teacher organization is hosting a $2 hot dog dinner that includes the hot dog, chips and a drink.
For more information, contact teacher Mary Stoll at 265-2222.
