Low-cost spaying and neutering is available for pit bulls through the Douglas County Animal Shelter and participating veterinarians beginning June 1.
Owners of a pit bull or pit bull mix may receive a voucher for $25 in services by bringing driver's licenses with a Douglas County address to the animal shelter, 921 Pinenut Road in Gardnerville.
Dogs must be present, should be at least 6 months old and females cannot be in heat or pregnant to receive a voucher.
Spaying and neutering is one of the most beneficial things to do for dogs.
