Fore Play Golf For Women is now open in the Carson Valley Plaza.

"The store is designed specifically to address the needs of golf-minded women," said owner Tina Luce.

The store sells clothing, shoes, accessories, equipment, art, gifts and jewelry.

"Clothing designs wear well both on and off the course," said Luce. "There are six lines of designers to choose from."

Carson Valley Medical Center's Board of Directors has named William Hale its new Chief Executive Officer.

Hale was the CEO of University Medical Center of Southern Nevada from 1993 to 2003. Prior to UMC, Hale spent 13 years in various leadership roles at San Bernardino County Medical Center.

"I feel fortunate to be on board at Carson Valley Medical Center and look forward to a future of growth and further success of a hospital that prides itself on providing the highest quality medical care and technology available to our community," said Hale.

Flying Start Aero, a flight training, rental an air taxi service based at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, celebrating its 10th year of business.

Flying Start has become a Cessna pilot center, offering Cessna multi-media flight training syllabuses.

The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to two Douglas High School seniors, Sarah Gularte and Jacqueline Sunderland.

The Alyce McCracken Memorial Scholarship program was created over 10 years ago to honor Realtor and Community Advocate, Alyce McCracken.

Sixty-seven applications were received this year, and only seven were chosen.

"We are pleased to be able to provide local students with funding to further their education," said Bill Driscoll, President of the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors. "Alyce was an asset to the real estate industry and the community as a whole. She strongly believed in education, professionalism and giving back to the community; therefore, this annual scholarship program is appropriately named in her memory."

Animal Medical Services in Gardnerville is offering vaccine day every Thursday of the month through Aug. 28.

Vaccine times will be 8:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4:30 p.m. on a first come first serve basis.

Customers need to bring any prior shot records for their animal.
