Holiday shopping's alive in Carson Valley

We've just put the pumpkins and scarecrows away so that must mean it's time to break out the snowmen. Only 49 shopping days till Christmas to buy trinkets and baubles.

n Holiday craft fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Handcrafted decorations, baked goods, raffle, face painting and a visit from Santa from 10 a.m. to noon. Chili lunch for $5 adults, $3 children from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Silent auction and raffle drawing at 2 p.m. Sponsored by United Methodist Women.

n The Closet Crafters' fourth annual holiday craft fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1255 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 782-3711. Proceeds benefit the food closet. Information, 782-3711.

n The Antelope Valley Women's Club bazaar and roast beef dinner is noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Walker Community Center in Walker. The event features local crafts and vendors from noon until 5 p.m., when dinner starts. Adults $10, kids (3-10) $5. Information, (530) 495-9150.


Upcoming craft shows:

n Crafters are wanted for the third annual Stewart Community Council Holiday Fair on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Stewart Community Center, 465 Clear Creek Road, Carson City.

Native American and non-Indian vendors are welcome. Items sold at the event include silver, turquoise, beaded artwork, candles, crafts, holiday gifts and decor. Indian tacos and other food will be available.

n Reserve tables by Nov. 21 for the Merrill Gardens Art and Crafts Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6. Contact Corneil Vacirca at 782-3100 if interested in displaying artwork or crafts.

n Vendors needed for the Young at Heart annual holiday craft fair, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22, at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Shopping, music and snack bar will serve food. Information, 783-6455 or 265-2312.
