Winning the 2A State Cross Country title at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City Saturday might have been enough for Sierra Lutheran senior Wade Meddles.
And he did breeze to the win, coming in one minute and four seconds ahead of his closes competition, but Meddles managed to take it one step further.
Meddles posted the top time of the day out of all the races at 16:13.19. The time was even faster than Galena phenom Bryan Tibaduiza, who won the 4A title in 16:22.82.
Sierra Lutheran ran away with the 2A boys' state title, placing all five of its scoring runners in the top 11 and all seven of its runners in the top 25 of the 50-man race.
Senior Michael Kubel took third with a time of 17:51.53, freshman Nathanael Williams was fourth with an 18:02.32, junior Levi Grabow was seventh wtih an 18:13.32, and junior Preston Lyons was 11th at 18:44.54 to round out the Falcons' scoring.
Their times would have been good enough for a fourth-place finish at the 4A level and would have won the 3A race by over three minutes total.
Andrew Deterding took 19th at 18:59.14 and senior Bob DePaoli was 24th at 19:45.82.
Douglas High's Taylor Biaggi took eighth in the 4A girls' race with a time of 20:41.28.
