Healthy skin has a new advocate

Minden resident Mary Brady has opened a professional skin care practice inside Studio Vogue in downtown Gardnerville.

Skin Logic offers customized facials, peels and resurfacing treatments, face and body waxing, and detoxifying body wraps.

"Skin is important. It's the largest organ in the body, and it's what protects the body," Brady said.

Brady first became interested in skin care 10 years ago when she underwent some treatments herself.

"I had issues of my own, and it was very interesting to me," she said.

Brady became a certified esthetician with the State of Nevada in 2007 and already has more than 100 hours of post-graduate education, mostly through the International Dermal Institute in Los Angeles.

Brady said she uses products that are "result-oriented," but that also promote healthy skin.

"Using a state-of-the-art clinical-grade skin-care line, each treatment is customized for the client's individual skin type and condition," she said. "The emphasis is on the client's goals and overall skin health."

Brady said she doesn't believe in aggressive, risky treatments.

"People want to have treatments that are good for their skin," she said.

"Dealing with acne is one thing. With lines and wrinkles, I want to help the skin act younger, not just look younger."

Brady also said her business offers more than skin care.

"Relaxation is one of the most important parts," she said. "Facials include a full 20 minutes of massage to the face and upper body and shoulders and neck.

"It's definitely my favorite part."

Skin Logic, inside Studio Vogue, is located at 1495 Highway 395 and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and Saturdays and evenings by appointment.
