A celebration of the life of Gardnerville Ranchos resident Jonnie Cortez Borowick, 87, is 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden. Mrs. Borowick died Nov. 9, 2008, at her home after a long illness.

Born Nov. 23, 1921, she married Earl Borowick in March 1941. She worked for Lockheed at Los Angeles International Airport for years after her sons were born.

A homemaker, she enjoyed baking and gardening. She and her husband of 67 years liked to travel and took trips with family and friends. The couple owned a time share for many years.

She cared for Mr. Borowick and the boys for 67 years until she was no longer able.

She is survived by her husband; sons Bob and Larry; daughters-in-law Deb and Robin and two grandchildren, Naomi and Chris.

Services will be held in New Hampshire for five-year Gardnerville resident Florence B. Buck, 84, who died Nov. 7, 2008, at her home.

Born Dec. 17, 1923 to Joseph and Amelia Bouchard in Litchfield, N.H., she was a telephone operator.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Buck.

Mrs. Buck is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Francis and Barbara Buck; daughter and son-in-law Amelia and Robert Letourneau; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A private family service was held for 35-year Gardnerville resident Jeanette June Michel, 87, who died Nov. 1, 2008, in Carson City after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 19, 1921, in Scottsbluff, Neb., she loved golfing, enjoyed traveling, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Michel moved to Gardnerville in 1973.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Michel.

Mrs. Michel is survived by her children, DiAnna of Gardnerville, Valerie Sims of Henderson, Michele 'Mickey' Werner of Gardnerville and William 'Bud' Michel of Dayton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden.
