The Carson Valley Community Food Closet needs frozen turkeys. This year there is an increased need for turkeys to distribute to families for the Thanksgiving holiday. The volunteers will be putting together boxes of all the fixings for a turkey holiday dinner to distribute to qualified families. Despite the local food drives scheduled for canned goods and nonperishable items, frozen turkeys are desperately needed.
This week when you do your holiday food shopping, consider buying an extra frozen turkey to donate. Only frozen turkeys can be accepted. They will be frozen until distributed next week. You can deliver your turkey to the food closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Business hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 1-4 p.m. Please do not leave any frozen turkeys at the front door.
Your support will help feed qualified families and individuals during this Thanksgiving holiday. We are also accepting cash donations. A tax deduction receipt will be issued for your donation. For more information on how you can donate or volunteer, contact the food closet at 782-3711.
