Shoe box gifts go to needy children at Christmas

Carson Valley Christian Center will be collecting gifts through Monday as part of a project to send Christmas gifts to needy children in more than 90 countries around the world.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of international Christian relief organization Samaritan's Purse headed by Franklin Graham, has delivered more than 61 million gift-filled shoe boxes to needy children in 130 countries since 1993. National collection week continues until Nov. 24.

Fill shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, necessity items, candy and a letter of encouragement and deliver to the collection site at Carson Valley Christian Center by Monday.

Collection times are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 8-10 a.m. Monday at Carson Valley Christian Center, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden. Information, (800) 571-5021.
