Staff Reports

The Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club with the Douglas County Senior Center and Gardnerville Elementary and Douglas High school students are preparing Christmas gift bags for recipients of Meals-on-Wheels and Douglas County homebound seniors.

Donations are needed of small presents such as sample-sized shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, lip balm, playing cards, games, candy, cans of nuts, wash cloths, hand towels, socks and ornaments. Also needed is sugar-free candy for diabetic clients.

Gift bags will be assembled beginning Dec. 11 at the senior center to be delivered to 98 Meals-on-Wheels clients Dec. 16-18. Most of these Meals-on-Wheels recipients and homebound seniors live alone and in some cases it is the only Christmas gift which they may receive.

Cash or gift card donations may be made to Young At Heart to buy the presents.

Deliver donations to the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, or call the senior center at 783-6455 or Paul Lockwood at 782-6583 to have donations picked up.
