The Douglas volleyball team came back from an emotional win over Manogue Tuesday night to sweep Northern 3A power Yerington on the road Wednesday, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20.
Douglas got balanced play from its attack as Jourdan Burke had eight kills, Shannon Dugan, Jessica Waggoner and Taryn Williams each had six kills, Christine DuPuis had four kills, Bryanna Schinzing had three, Jamie Lorntzen two and Emily Garcia, Jackie Harper and Megan Mitchell each had one.
Waggoner had 12 blocks and three aces, Mitchell had 16 assists while Harper had 11, and Mysta Townsell led the defensive effort with 12 digs.
Rebecca Antti and Jordan Marsh each chipped in four digs as Douglas improved to 24-1 overall.
Douglas beat Yerington 22-25, 25-13, 17-15 to improve to 12-2 overall.
Nikki Chavez had 39 assists, Courtney Appleton had 13 kills, Erin Allion had nine kills, Brenna White and Carly McCullough each had seven kills and Shawna Gervais had 25 digs.
Carson McFadden chipped in five service points, Heidi Schefcik had four service points, Bri Burnside had a kill, Keely Latham had two blocks and Dani Trujillo had a service point.
Douglas beat Yerington 25-21, 25-19 to improve to 9-3 overall. The Tigers also beat Manogue 25-19, 25-19.
Coaches credited each member's contributions this season. The team's roster includes Renee Allen, Hannah Ediss, Bree Doan, Laurel Brown, Karyn Eck, Amanda Wartgow, Helena Strauss, Savannah Wood, Crissy McLaughlin, Cassie Uhart, Demi Cole, Hailey Sclafani and manager Sedona Schaat.
In Tuesday's game against Manogue, Sclafani had 14 assists, 2 digs and one aces. Wood had 4 kills and 3 digs, Uhart had 3 aces and 3 digs, Cole had 2 kills, Allen had 4 kills and 3 digs, Eck had one kill and 4 digs, Ediss had 3 kills and 5 digs, Wartgow, McLaughlin, Strauss and Wood each had an ace and Doan and Brown had one kill.
