Minden man named Realtor of the Year

Minden Realtor Rob Wigton was awarded the 2008 Realtor of the Year award by the Nevada Association of Realtors at a dinner in Reno Sept. 23rd.

Wigton was recognized for the effort and work he expended on behalf of Realtors to the profession and the community.

Wigton, an owner/manager of Century 21 Clark Properties, has been a member of the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtos for nearly 15 years.

He is the 2008 president of the Nevada Association of Realtors and served as the president Sierra Nevada Association from 2004 to 2005.

"I'm extremely honored to be selected by my peers to receive this award," said Wigton. "It's been a very challenging year as we try to work our way through the economic and political issues that have crippled the housing market.

"However, I'm optimistic that the worst is behind us and good time lie ahead for those entering the housing market."

The Realtor of the Year Award is awarded to the association member who best displays Realtor spirit, civic activity, business accomplishments, local association activity, local and national association activity.

Wigton was recognized for his community involvement. He has been a major donor for the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department youth programs. He has also been active with Project Santa Claus, the Douglas Count Building and Industry Association and has been a major contributor to Austin's House, a children's safe house.

"It's very important for all of us to give back to the communities that we live in, either financially or through volunteer work or both," Wigton said. "The Carson Valley has been very good to me and my family over the years."

Wigton works with his wife, Kari, selling residential, commercial and investment real estate from their office at Century 21 Clark Properties.

The couple welcomes new clients and they are grateful to the many established clients they have worked with over the years.
