Austin's House, which provides temporary housing for Douglas County children in need ages birth to 17, is looking for two AmeriCorps/VISTA volunteers to work at the residential center.
Volunteers in Service To America was founded in 1965 and incorporated in the AmeriCorps program network in 1993.
VISTA members serve one year in nonprofit organizations.
During the year of service, VISTA members receive a $875 monthly stipend, health care, student loan forebearance, child care assistance and other benefits.
Upon completion, the volunteer can chose an educational award of $4,725 for college or $1,200 in cash.
The volunteers won't work directly with the chidden, but will focus on building the organizational, administrative and financial capacity of Austin's House. They also develop programs, write grants and recruit and train volunteers.
Candidates must be at least 21, have good verbal, written and speaking skills and be able to work independently.
