The Douglas boys' soccer team picked up a 3-0 non-league victory over North Tahoe in Minden Monday evening.

Edgar Arceo had two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers and Ivan Gonzalez had six saves in net to record his first shutout of the season.

The two teams went the first 17 minutes before either managed a shot on goal. It was Arceo who put the first shot on net on a direct kick, but it was blocked aside.

In the 32nd minute, Arceo received the ball on a clear down the right wing and carried 30 yards toward the net before he made a nice move to beat a defender and fired the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead.

Douglas got standout play from its defense of Brian Randall, Fabian Ramos, Jeff Crozier, Edgar Gonzalez and Dylan Colbert to keep North Tahoe from stringing together any solid scoring opportunities.

Morgan Clancy scored his first career goal for Douglas in the 57th minute on a play that Arceo originated on the right side and Arceo later scored on a direct kick in the 70th minute to complete the scoring on the night.

Douglas travels to Damonte Ranch today to resume Sierra League play.

On Saturday, the Tigers scored in the first five minutes on a beautiful goal to take the lead over Galena, but the Grizzlies took advantage of two defensive lapses to come back for the win in Reno.

Ross Gardner sent an outstanding cross to Andrew Andraski, who headed it in for Douglas.

Corbin Zumpft made five "quality" saves, said Douglas coach Milko Vasquez. Brian Randall, Edgar Gonzalez and Edgar Arceo all played well for the Tigers.

Vasquez also pointed out Cole Cline, who was making his first appearance in three weeks, for his play on the left half and Crozier for his play.

"I'm very proud of them," said Vasquez, commenting on his team's effort.

Douglas suffered its first loss of the season to Galena Saturday in Reno.

The Grizzlies took a 2-1 win.
