Douglas County Republicans are offering a pizza party for those walking for the McCain-Palin campaign.

Campaigners would walk 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-6 p.m. Saturdays and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays up to the campaign.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the morning and pizza will be served for lunch.

Walkers gather at Republican headquarters, 1516 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.

Business Council of Douglas County, the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority and The Record-Courier are sponsoring a town hall debate 5:30 p.m. today at the CVIC Hall on the two county ballot questions. Information, 782-6715.

The League of Women Voters is hosting a candidates' forum 6:30-9 p.m. Oct. 16 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event hosted by the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. The forum is sponsored by the Timken-Sturgis Foundation.

Questions will be submitted by audience members.

Commission candidates will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Panelists include moderator Maud Naroll, Peggy Twedt, Greta Hambsch and Dorothy Gardner.
