Congressional candidate and Foothill resident Jill Derby is beginning a 2,000-mile 72-hour whistlestop tour of Nevada on Saturday.
The Second Congressional District occupies the vast majority of Nevada, stretching north from Las Vegas, where the tour will begin.
The district is the third largest in the United States.
Derby's campaign expects to begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Villas Park in North Las Vegas.
She will arrive in Genoa 1 p.m. Sunday, where she will visit the Genoa Country Store, Genoa Bar, and Mormon Station State Historic Park.
Tour stops include Mesquite, Pahrump, Henderson, Reno, Carson City, Yerington, Fallon, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain and Elko. The tour will wrap up in Spring Creek 6 p.m. Monday.
Derby and Heller faced off in 2006 to replace Gov. Jim Gibbons in the seat that has never been held by a Democrat.
Democrats have gained 26,410 voters since the 2006 election, while Republicans have only gained 4,163. But even with that gain Republicans outnumber Democrats in the district by 25,878.
