The sign for Max Baer's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino is back before the Douglas County Planning Commission this afternoon. Baer's Project One is seeking a variance to build a free standing sign 90 feet tall with an 878 square foot sign face for two animated reader boards. The new sign is 19 feet shorter than a previous request and the sign face is down from 2,423 square feet.

A teenager who admitted involvement in a series of burglaries is up for sentencing in Douglas District Court this morning. Kyle Liddicoat pleaded guilty in August to two counts of burglary. The July break-ins occurred in Johnson Lane, Wildhorse and Stephanie Way neighborhoods while the residents slept. Liddicoat pleaded guilty in exchange to being sentenced to a regimental discipline camp if he's eligible. The maximum penalty in the case is 20 years in prison and an $18,000 fine. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Jacob Lacey in the case. Lacey is accused of being Liddicoat's accomplice.

Genoa Town Board members will tally up the proceeds to find out just how sweet this year's Candy Dance was at their regular meeting 7 p.m. today. Genoans meet in the town hall.
