Genoa is projecting $274,000 in revenues from the 2008 Candy Dance, increase of $4,000 from last year. Town Manager Sheryl Gonzales said Tuesday night that she won't have a full accounting of how much was spent to earn that money until December. Gonzales said the impression that Candy Dance was packed on its first day was buttressed by the fact that the town parked 800 more cars than last year. All three of the town's parking lots filled up. Gonzales said 330 tickets were sold to the dinner dance on Saturday.

Douglas County Planning commissioners rejected Max Baer's much smaller sign on Tuesday afternoon. We'll have more details later today about that later. The sign is considerably smaller than originally proposed, but still larger than Douglas County code allows.

The forecast today is for sunny skies with a high temperature in the low 70s. It will continue to warm up through Friday and then back down a bit. The lows will be in the 30s. It's warmer out this morning, though an inversion is keeping the cold temperatures near the ground. It's 31 degrees in Minden before sunrise and 38 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Moisture is back in the forecast for Monday.
