With less than two weeks until the Nov. 4 general election, Douglas County's early voters were on track to break another turnout record.
A total of 2,034 voters cast ballots early on Saturday and Monday, breaking records for both days, according to Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran.
"They've been steadily coming in," he said. "Monday was about as busy as Saturday."
Thran said turnout Tuesday had so far been a bit slower, but it looks like voters are on track to break the four-day record set in 2004 of 2,214 voters.
Douglas County's polling places hit the road on Thursday when the clerk's office sets up 3-7 p.m. in the Sunridge fire station. Early voting will continue through 3 p.m. Oct. 31. Satellite polling locations in Topaz Ranch Estates and Stateline will be open on Saturday. Voting will also take place at the fire stations in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Oct. 29 and Johnson Lane on Oct. 30.
So far Thran said early voting has gone well.
"Knock on wood," he said. "But everything's running smoothly."
He encouraged residents to vote early.
"It takes a lot of pressure off on election day.
Saturday was the first day of early voting and saw nearly 1,200 people cast ballots.
Of those 759 voted at the CVIC Hall and 415 at satellite locations. On Monday, 860 voters turned out.
