Last week a couple of young missionary gentlemen showed up at our door. I am not sure how we got on the subject, but I think it was that our daughter Jenee tattled on me. She told them about how every night at 10 I eat candy while I'm watching television. I was shocked " no I don't. I never eat candy. What happened one time last week was she got up and caught me eating Good & Plenty. Do you know what that is? It's black licorice wrapped with a pink or white candy shell. I don't usually do this.
The missionaries were surprised because they had never heard of it. One of the young men is here on a mission from Brazil and the other from Canada.
Maybe in other countries they don't have the same types of candy as we do. When we see them Monday I'll have a big bag for each of them. I figure by the time they finish the bag, they'll be sick of it and think I am nuts.
Blackberries
Thank you Roger for thinking of me on your trip to Washington. He brought me three quart baggies full of fresh blackberries that I will make pies with.
All the way from New York
I got a call from a new resident who moved here from New York. She explained how she read my column last week about our abundance of Concord grapes.
She explained how she had not had a good Concord grape in years and how she's like to relieve me of some. Sorry, I had already passed them all out to the neighbors and the school.
Girl Scouts
Lots of troops of Girl Scouts are having a huge fall party open to the public at 9 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
It's $8 for each child and there will be pumpkin bowling, sack races, bobbing for apples, crafts, face painting, refreshments, smoothies, baked goods and more.
If you have any questions you can call Ron Santi at 267-2774. Hope to see you there.
Watch out for deer
I have had several people call and complain about driving up Johnson Lane in the past few days who say that they almost hit a deer. Be really careful. I sure wouldn't want to run into a deer.
29 again?
Happy birthday to my dear sister, Cindy. I hope you have a good one.
