A federal harassment lawsuit has been filed by an Indian Hills General Improvement District employee naming the district and its interim general manager and candidate for office Art Baer. In the lawsuit water operator Josh Joyner is claiming Baer retaliated against him for reporting the district to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration costing the district a $3,300 fine. This is the latest in a series of salvos fired at or by candidates for the improvement district office or its manager's position, including an open meeting law violation, an ethics complaint and numerous agenda items.
A teenage couple arrested for burglarizing a Gardnerville martial arts studio may face additional charges. Indian Hills residents Matthew and Amy Golden, both 19, were arrested last week in connection with a break-in at a martial arts studio where Amy was detained by the chief martial artist. Prosecutor Tom Gregory said in open court on Wednesday that investigators believe the break-in was not an isolated occurrence.
The weather for the rest of the week will be more of the same with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. The lows will stick just below freezing, but it looks like good painting weather.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a dead animal on Highway 50 at Cave Rock tunnel as of 5:34 a.m., so be careful there. No word on what nature of the animal is, but it must be big enough to attract the attention of the authorities.
