With only five days left of early voting, nearly 6,900 Douglas residents have cast their ballots. That's a fifth of the total number of active and inactive voters registered in the county. If early voting keeps going the way it has, a third of the county's voters will have already been to the polls when election day arrives on Nov. 4.

Early voting will continue this week through 3 p.m. Friday, which is also when Trick or Treat Safety Street opens up in the Minden firehouse. Nevada Day is a state holiday, which means that other than early voting and the marriage bureau, county and state offices will be closed, there will be no school and state financial institutions will be closed. On the other hand, there will be mail.

It was a busy weekend and we'll be following up on the major stories, including the death of a Carson man who jumped out of a car, an injured skydiver and the destruction of a Kingsbury home early Sunday morning.

It will be another warm day today with high temperature approaching 75 under mostly sunny skies. There is a bit of moisture in the forecast for Friday night.
