Nevada and California artists are invited to enter work in the Carson Valley Artists Association scholarship benefit show, Nov. 7-9 at the CVIC Hall in downtown Minden.

Proceeds from the show provide scholarships for Douglas and Whittell High School students continuing their art education.

The categories for the show include work in oil, acrylic, water media, photography, mixed media, pastel and sculpture. Awards include ribbons, a Best of Show award of $100 and first-place awards of $75 in each media.

Show judge is David Foster, retired Lake Tahoe Community College Art Department chair. Show times are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 7, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9.

Meet the artists at a reception, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 7, featuring snacks, wine, punch and a door prize. A raffle drawing is 2-3 p.m. Nov. 9 for prizes donated by area businesses and individuals with proceeds benefiting the CVAA Scholarship Fund.

Entries accepted 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at the CVIC Hall. Members $6 per entry, non-members pay $8 per entry and high school students pay $5 per entry.

New works are encouraged. All work must be original and for sale. No crafts or jewelry. Paintings must be dry. Hanging works must be framed and wired to hang. No sawtooth hangers or uniframes.
