The mother of a Gardnerville teen who ranaway from home last weekend believes her daughter may be in the South Lake Tahoe area. She has now been reported missing in both Douglas and El Dorado counties.
"She's been seen in Tahoe," said Kathee Donaire, the mother of 15-year-old Ashlee Karow, who went missing from Donaire's Gardnerville home on the evening of Aug. 24. The girl is a junior at Douglas High School and has missed her first week of school.
Karow, who ran away once before in November 2007, left a note saying she wanted to "disappear for a while," Donaire said.
The family moved to Gardnerville six years ago from the South Shore and Donaire suspects Karow may be staying with friends here.
The girl is listed as a juvenile runaway, said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Halsey.
Karow is 5'4" tall, approximately 120 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. The teen has braces with green bands and was last seen wearing a pink top and blue jeans, Halsey said.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the teen are encouraged to call Donaire at (775) 781-0939.
El Dorado County authorities can be reached at (530) 544- 3464. Douglas County authorities can be reached at (775) 782-9935.
