A memorial service is 2 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City for Gardnerville resident David Earle Walmer III, 39, who died Aug. 27, 2008.
Mr. Walmer was born Feb. 1, 1969, in Fairfield, Calif., and moved to Gardnerville eight years ago.
He operated his own trucking company, and enjoyed spending time with his son, Derreck.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, David E. and Marlene Walmer of Pueblo, Colo.; mother Karen Hayden of Charleston, S.C.; son Derreck of Dayton; brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Frances of Pueblo West, Colo.; three sisters Julieanna Killian of Gardnerville, Celecia Calhoun of Yerington and Michelle Walmer of Pueblo; an uncle, Dan Walmer of Livermore, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations be made to a memorial benefit set up at Wells Fargo to benefit son his son, Derreck. Walton's Douglas County Mortuary has been entrusted with final arrangements.
