The Douglas girls' golf team won the first Sierra League tournament of the season, marking its eighth consecutive tournament win in league play dating back to last year and ninth consecutive tournament on Northern Nevada soil.
Sophomore Bethany Wurster won top individual honors, carding a 77, including a 36 on the back nine.
Senior Shelby Louie tied for third overall at 83 while Heather Henderson shot an 84 for fifth. Michele Nikkels shot a 90 to round out Douglas' team score of 334 and junior first-year player Annika Crowe shot a 111 in her first varsity tournament.
"I'm pleased with what the girls accomplished today," Douglas coach Steve Gustafson said. "Before each match, I give them target scores and they all met them today.
"Bethany struggled on the front nine, missing a few par putts, but she made up for it on the back nine.
"Shelby, Heather and Michele were consistent all day, avoiding the wetlands and Annika was a big surprise. Having only played for two months, she beat 19 other players in the 41-player field."
Manogue took second in the tournament, shooting a 377, Galena was third at 386 and Damonte Ranch was fourth at 407.
"Going into this tournament, I didn't quite know what to expect from Manogue and Galena," Gustafson said. "They have always had solid teams. Overall, I was very pleased with the first match of the year."
Carson, South Tahoe, Fallon and Wooster finished out the tournament in order.
