For a period of time Tuesday afternoon, it looked as though Douglas sophomore Amelia Ritger's unbeaten streak on Northern Nevada soil was in jeopardy.
Ritger had built a 3-0 lead against Reed's Nyasha Lesure in the first match of the season for both players.
Lesure battled back to tie things up at three but Ritger won her serve and played a flawless receiving game to take a 5-3 lead.
She fought through four dueces with her serve to pull out the 6-3 win.
Ritger one her second match of the day to improve to 34-0 in matches against Northern Nevada opponents as Douglas claimed a 12-6 team victory over the Raiders in Minden.
Other highlights of the day included Cesarina Ceglia taking a 7-5 win over Lesure and Clara Ritger picking up a win in her first varsity match with a 6-0 victory over Reed's Hannah Vine.
Douglas used a combination of pairs in doubles as Niki Hamzik and Marissa Delgadillo won both of their matchs and the teams of Kat Merrill-Sophie Lyles and Jamie Lundergreen-Sarah Weaver each claimed victories.
Delgadillo teamed with Gabby Boma for a win and Lyles teamed with Nicole Barnwood for another win.
