Firefighters have extended their line 60 percent around the 216-acre Burnside fire and are still on target to have the blaze surrounded by 6 p.m. Friday. The names of the victims in the P2V tanker crash in Stead have yet to be released by the Washoe County Coroner's Office.

Genoans approved an agreement on Tuesday night that would bring three non-town events in under the town's events permit for Candy Dance 2009. Martha Williams, Phil Stoll and Giles Lagourge would pay the town $26.72 per booth to be under the town's permit. Town board members estimated that it costs them $118 a booth to put on Candy Dance, but said it was important to put past conflicts behind them.

It should be sunny and nice today with a high temperature of 86 degrees. The wind will be calm and then increase to 5 mph in the afternoon. It will be the weekend before high temperatures climb back into the 90s, according to the National Weather Service.
