A celebration of life is 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Red Lake for Karl O. Marchegger, 75, who died Aug. 26, 2008, in Gardnerville.
Born March 8, 1933, in Austria, he lived in Canada, Alaska, and the San Francisco Bay area before moving to South Lake Tahoe in 1972. He moved to Gardnerville in 1996. The owner of Komarch Construction, he built many beautiful homes in the Lake Tahoe basin.
Mr. Marchegger was an avid reader who enjoyed icefishing, camping, snowmobiling, visiting natural hotsprings, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Marika Marchegger of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and Phil Hurst of Healdsburg; son and daughter-in-law Marcus and Lisa Marchegger of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law Marika and Wulfer de Bruijn of Switzerland; sister and brother-in law Marianne and Vickerl Stindl of Austria, and grandchildren Alek and Clay Hurst, and Elaina and Jared Marchegger.
The celebration will be held at Mr. Marchegger's favorite fishing spot along the lake, located in Hope Valley.Food and refreshments will be served and hopefully someone will catch a fish or two as well.
