Douglas freshman James TenBroeck made his high school debut against one of the toughest tennis programs in the region Thursday afternoon.
TenBroeck breezed through his three sets on the day, beating Galena's Shane Leeder 6-2, Graham Harris 6-1 and Jeremy Grubbs 6-0.
Douglas' Spike Neri beat Grubbs 6-3 and Nick Wesley to pick up the Tigers' only other points on the day as Galena raced away with a 13-5 Sierra League win in Reno,
It was a tough day for the Tiger doubles teams, who went unbeaten against Reed earlier in the week. Against Galena, they went the opposite direction getting swept completely.
The team of senior Aaron Wennhold and freshman Craig Stratton came the closest on the day, pushing their third opponent of the day to 7-5.
Douglas dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Douglas sophomore Amelia Ritger pushed her career record against Northern 4A opponents to 36-0 with 6-3 and 6-1 wins against Galena in Minden Thursday. Galena, however, came away with the 12-6 team victory.
Galena organized its lineup, namely its top two singles players Hailey and Hannah Llop, to avoid Ritger in the early season matchup.

Junior Cesarina Ceglia had a 6-1 win over Galena's Natasha Monga and defeated Kylie Joseph 6-1 in the second round. She improved to 5-1 on the season with the wins.
The other highlights of the match for the Tigers were Linsey Glass picking up her first career singles victory with a 6-3 win over Olivia Mason and the doubles team of Niki Hamzik and Marissa Delgadillo improving to 3-1 as a team with a7-6 (10-8) tiebreaker win over Ellen Ferguson and Alexandra Darling.
