In a rematch of what has become one of the most hotly-contested rivalries in Northern Nevada high school volleyball over the past two seasons, Douglas took a five-game win over Reno Thursday night in Reno.

The No. 2 Tigers claimed the victory over the top-ranked Huskies with scores of 25-14, 19-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 15-9.

It marked the fourth match consecutive match the two teams have played the full five games against each other. Reno took a five-set win in last year's Northern 4A Regional title game, Douglas won the regular -season finale between the two schools to take the Sierra League championship and Reno won the first matchup between the teams earlier in the year in Minden.

With both teams in separate leagues this year, Thursday night's matchup will be the only one between the schools at least until the regional playoffs.

Shannon Dugan led the Tigers with 14 kills, followed by Jessica Waggoner with nine and Jourdan Burke with eight.

Taryn Williams added seven kills to go with six digs while Megan Mitchell had six kills to go with her 35 assists, four blocks and 19 service points.

Waggoner led the team in blocks with nine while Dugan and Jamie Lorntzen each had seven.

Mysta Townsell led the defensive effort for Douglas with 15 kills as the Tigers improved to 10-0 overall on the year.
