Two people arrested for burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card are scheduled to appear in District Court this morning for sentencing. Gardnerville resident Melissa Sue Milller, 38, and Douglas D. Goldy are accused of using a stolen credit card at about 20 locations in Douglas County running up $4,100 in charges. Miller also faces charges in connection with a July 11 drug raid.

A couple of firsts are happening at 8 a.m. today. Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran will swear in new country recorder Karen Ellison as county recorder this morning. Ellison will be the first public official Thran's sworn in. Ellison, 50, is a 16-year resident of the county and was a title officer at Stewart Title. Both she and Thran are expected to appear on the 2010 ballot.

The Senior Services Advisory Council is meeting 8 a.m. today at the senior center, 2300 Meadow Lane, in Gardnerville.

The weather will continue warm today with an expected high temperature of 91. The wind will pick up over the next few days, with high temperatures falling to 80 by Thursday before climbing back up.
