Staff Reports

Tahoe Youth & Family Services hosts an open house 4-7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Douglas Drop In Center, 719 Tillman Lane in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Check out the staff and new facility and find out about the center's services.

The drop in/resource center offers youth ages 13-24 an opportunity to "Get Recharged, Get Resources, Get Respect." The center offers food, hygiene products, necessary clothing items and help obtaining identification and resources for employment. The drop in center is a place where youth can watch movies, surf the Internet, play video games, work on homework or just relax.

Since June 2007, there have been more than 1,100 youth visits to the South Lake Tahoe and Gardnerville drop in centers. Visitors have been helped with food and drink items, phone cards, clothing, socks, hygiene kits, shower vouchers and laundry.
