The 2008 4-H Expo was held in conjunction with the Nevada State Fair on Aug. 20-24 in Reno. Nevada 4-H and the Nevada State Fair worked cooperatively to provide an educational, exciting, and fun experience for 300 youth who attended from throughout Nevada.
The week-long event included a free hot dog barbecue that included program displays and information, Interviews for the state 4-H ambassador program, recognition of outgoing and incoming ambassadors, recognition of the 4-H agricultural leader of the year (an award sponsored and funded by the Nevada Agricultural Foundation) to Douglas County 4-H leader Nita Vick Zulian.
Contests such as sewing, photography, ceramics, dog, poultry, horse and many others were enjoyed by families from across the state.
After providing two to three years of leadership by serving as a state 4-H ambassador, the following youth received plaques for their service and dedication to the Nevada 4-H program: Teresa Cash, Dayton; Charlie Mann, Lyon County; Deanna O'Mara, Clark County; Chreshell Turnage, Clark County; Jessica Felix, Douglas County; Jonathon Glocknitzer, Douglas County; John-Henry Lambin, Douglas County; Shannon Martinez, Douglas County; Amanda Bliablias, Washoe County; and Austin Tischler, Washoe County.
4-H youth who successfully completed an application, resume and interview to become a new state 4-H ambassador were: Kayla Neilson, Washoe County; Kelsie Leas, Clark County; Calvin McMurray, Clark County; and Celestina Cubio-Torres, Clark County.

n Cheyenne Bidart,
second Intermediate Showmanship. Her lamb placed first in its market class and third overall in the Grand Drive.
n Leah McKinney, second in Junior Showmanship. Her lamb was first in its market class, Reserve Champion Lamb overall in the Grand Drive and Champion Homegrown Lamb.
Dog show:
n Brandi Friesen, agility Elementary Reserve Champion and Intermediate Reserve Champion in Showmanship.
Cavy show:
n Kelsey Blotter, Grand Champion Costume and received two blue ribbons in Guinea breed show.
Rabbit show:
n Amelia Ritger, Best of Breed Holland Lop and third-place in Senior Showmanship.
n Kelsey Blotter, sixth-place Intermediate Showmanship.
Poultry show:
n Timothy Blum, Best of Breed rosette, first-place ribbon, sixth-place in Junior Showmanship.
