The State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is looking for volunteers to help Nevadans understand Medicare, a program that benefits the majority of older Americans.

No experience is necessary and all training is free. Volunteer hours are flexible and volunteers are needed throughout Northern Nevada. Information, Douglas County Senior Center, 783-6455.

Volunteer counselors from the Northern Nevada Insurance program are available to provide one-on-one services for seniors who need help understanding Medicare benefits and health insurance.

SHIP Medicare counselors help beneficiaries enroll in the different parts of Medicare and change their Medicare plans and help with Medicare Part D prescription plan, Medicare Part A hospital insurance, Medicare Part B medical insurance, Medicare advantage plans, Medigap, issues or disputes and with general Medicare questions.
