Grape stomp

The Tahoe Ridge Winery's second annual harvest grape stomp is 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tahoe Ridge Marketplace, 2285 Main St., Genoa. Enjoy food, fine wine, music and cheer on your favorite stomping team. To enter a team, there is a $25 fee that includes a T-shirt.

Young at Heart bingo Sunday

Young at Heart Community Bingo is Sunday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Doors open at noon, early bird games start at 1 p.m. Regular games start at 1:30 p.m. Coffee and popcorn provided. Snack bar open. Information, 783-6455.


Free ice skating exhibition

The Catch Your Breath ice skating exhibition hosted by the Tahoe Figure Skating Club is 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena, 1176 Rufus Allen Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

The free program includes figure skating, ice dancing, synchronized skating by club members from Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley. Sign ups available for the South Tahoe Hockey League, Ice Arena Skate School and Tahoe Figure Skating Club which begins Sept. 25.


Oktoberfest Sunday

The Sertoma Club's 18th annual Oktoberfest celebration of brats and brew begins at noon, Sunday, in Heritage Park, Gardnerville. Admission is free. There will be special Oktoberfest beers on tap, wine, soft drinks, sausages, hot German potato salad, sauerkraut with hot dogs, ice cream and apple strudel.

Polka and waltz music provided by Al Gruber and his Bavarian band. Enter a raffle for a basket of German wines, spirits and brews.


St. Gall wine tasting Sunday

The annual Taste of St. Gall wine tasting event is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Cost of $25 includes wine from Tahoe Ridge Winery, wine glass, hors d'oeuvres, art, raffles and music by Steve Vasco Jazz Magic. Tickets at the church, 782-2852.


'Bigs' matching event Thursday

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northern Nevada hosts the Bigs in School match event, 11:15 a.m. Sept. 25 in the Carson Valley Middle School cafeteria.

The Bigs in School mentoring program matches volunteer mentors with middle school students who need and want a Big Brother or Big Sister. The matches meet at the school for an hour once a week at lunch or after school. RSVP at cscott@bbbsnn.org or 283-0606.

A low-cost vaccine clinic is 9 a.m. to noon, Sept. 28, at Gina's Grooming, 791 Tillman Lane in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Microchipping by Dr. Lesli Hewitt of Quail Ridge Animal Hospital.
