Last week, the Coleville volleyball team traveled to Reno to play their first league match against Excel Christian. This wasn't Coleville's first match of the season, as the Wolves went 3-3 at the Yerington Tournament the previous weekend with wins over Battle Mountain, Smith Valley and Sparks.
The Lady Wolves were able to beat Excel Christian 25-15, 25-13, & 25-15.
As the Wolves lost seven seniors last year and are returning with only two starters, this was a good win for Coleville. Coleville's most impressive player of the night was sophomore Linzy Garcia. Her steady serving brought seven aces to go with two kills.
Returning senior, Skyler Isbell had seven kills, one block and two aces. Junior Emily Talgo, had nine assists and five kills.
Senior Kassie Pemberton had nine assists, one kill and one ace.
Junior Molly Garcia had four kills and one block. Freshman Elizabeth Pierce had two kills and two aces and freshman Lela Stokes had two kills and one block.
On Tuesday the Lady Wolves traveled back to Reno to play last year's league runner-up, Sage Ridge.
After a knee injury to libero Kristie Parker during warm ups, the team pulled together to come up with the 25-14, 25-22, 26-24 win.
Molly Garcia racked up seven kills to go with five aces, Isbell had eight kills and five aces, Talgo had 13 assists, five kills and two aces.
Pemberton had five assists, one kill and an ace. Pierce had four aces and a kill, and Linzy Garcia had two kills and one ace.
Coleville's league record now stands at 4-0 (with a double header forfeit by Pyramid Lake) and 7-3 overall.
