The Douglas boys' soccer team battled all afternoon to tie the game up only to see it slip away in the closing minutes against Bishop Manogue Saturday afternoon in Reno.
Manogue took a 2-1 win, scoring with three minutes to go against Douglas, which was down three players due to injuries.
"It wasn't a bad game overall," Douglas coach Miko Vasquez said. "We kind of finished with a flurry. It was a positive result."
Manogue had a 1-0 lead with five minutes left when Douglas midfielder Christian Salazar played a corner kick in front of the net for Edgar Arceo, who headed the ball in to tie the score.
"It was a tough game," Vasquez said. "I liked the way the kids played."
Vasquez said Fabian Ramos, Brian Randall, Andrew Andraski and Salazar all played well, as did halfbacks Gavin Fitzhugh, Luke Prinz and Edgar Gonzalez.
Dylan Colbert and Cole Cline missed the game with injuries and Ross Gardner left the game with an injury.
Douglas dropped to 6-3-1 overall on the year and 1-1-1 in league play.
Douglas hosts South Tahoe Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and travels to Carson Saturday for an 11 a.m. game.
